ORGANIZING

The Teamsters Union represents employees in all walks of life, in diverse industries and in a multitude of occupations.  The general public still thinks of the Teamsters Union as representing primarily truck drivers and warehouse workers.  However, the Teamsters Union has grown way beyond just the transportation industry. 

In fact, of the 1.5 million members in the Teamsters Union, less than one-third are currently involved in the transportation industry.  The remaining two-thirds of the membership are found in every conceivable type of industry -- auto rental, bakery, construction, beer and soft drink production and distribution, dairy, industrial, vending, communications, medical professional and technical, legal, financial, and service organizations, as well as in state and municipal government employment.

Why do so many different occupations want to be represented by the Teamsters Union?   The answer is simple -- they know that the Teamsters Union has the strength and the ability to provide the best wages, working conditions and representation!  No matter who you work for, the Teamsters believe that you are entitled to dignity on the job and recognition for the work and effort you put forth.
